TotalBoat Gleam 2.0 creates a finished look that’s stunning in its beauty, gloriously highlighting the grain of all wood types. Its premium tung oil and phenolic resin formula is perfectly suited for clear coating applications. Gleam’s transparent amber Gloss and Satin finishes are easy to apply, with smooth flow out on bare wood, previously painted 1-part varnish in good condition, or over cured epoxy. Whether you choose Gloss or Satin, Gleam 2.0’s fast-drying, easy-to-use formulas ensure a gorgeous amber finish with exceptional clarity and durability.

For Gloss applications, apply 4-6 coats of TotalBoat Gleam Gloss varnish to achieve desired finish & depth.For Satin applications, use build layers of Gleam Gloss, and directly prior to the final coat, sand lightly with 320-grit sandpaper & finish with 1 or 2 coats of Gleam Satin. Using Gleam Satin over built-up layers of Gleam Gloss showcases the natural wood grain more clearly than Satin alone. Get a higher build per coat.

Classic Tung oil marine spar varnish is easy to apply, and creates a radiant, durable finish. Self-leveling varnish dries fast—recoat in as little as 1 hour at 72°F. Waterproof formula will not turn yellow over time. Easy to apply by brush, roller, or sprayer. For interior and exterior use above the waterline. Thinning – Application: Brush/Roller – TotalBoat Special Brushing Thinner 100; Spray Gun – xylene. Available in Gloss and Satin, in Pint, Quart, and Gallon sizes.

Apply up to 3 coats in 1 day—without tedious sanding between coats.

Improved Gleam varnish formulas have better overcoating & cure times so you can finish varnishing faster. In optimal conditions, you can recoat in as little as 1 hour @72°F, and you can apply up to 3 coats in 1 day—no need for sanding between coats. Gleam 2.0 does not need to be sanded if overcoated within 48 hours. If 2-3 coats have been applied in one day, allow 48 hours drying time, then sand lightly with the grain, using 320-grit sandpaper, before overcoating or before applying the final coat.

Tip: When you begin varnishing bare wood, you’re not actually putting varnish onto the surface, but into it, because the wood will soak up the first couple of coats (called sealer coats). For an easier, faster way to apply sealer coats, use TotalBoat Wood Sealer varnish primer before applying Gleam. Wood Sealer is easy to apply, dries fast, and doesn’t need sanding between coats.

A total of 4-6 coats will give the best finish and depth. The more coats—the better the finish.

Yearly maintenance tip: Clean Gleam 2.0 surfaces with an all-purpose boat soap (such as TotalBoat Boat Soap) and water. To maintain the beautiful finish on exterior surfaces, apply 1-2 coats of Gleam annually.

Most satin finish varnishes are used on interior surfaces only, such as cabins, trim, and floors because they don’t protect against the sun’s harmful rays.
